*happy birthday to me from Magnolia Grill

The Magnolia Grill of Ft. Walton Beach Florida (built in early 1900's)

The charm to the outside of this dated building gets even better as you walk through the front doors.

This past week my sweet husband took me to The Magnolia Grill for my  birthday. The quaint restaurant was all dressed up for the holidays.

Isn't this mantle just gorgeous!  We sat for lunch at a little table just in front of this fireplace.  I love how they have used the crystal dishes to be the centerpiece of the decor adorning the mantle.

Each little nook and corner was dressed with small taste of things from yesteryear.  It was not too much, the areas were not clutter, but rather tasteful displays done to perfection.

There is an upstairs area that is dedicate to a "museum" of the past. It was fun to look at all that was on display.  Many things from my own childhood years, and other things dated from years before.

This lamp of course caught my eye and reminded me of  The Christmas Story.  That ridiculous lamp!

Merry Christmas!

I don't think this picture looks that appetizing.. but truly both the fries and the shrimp were delish.   Their menu is very versatile and has anything from burgers, to seafood, to Italian dishes to suit your pallet!

More of what is on display upstairs...

Wow. We had one of these in our house when we were growing up.

I loved looking at all the cameras!

These are the plans for the house that is now known as The Magnolia Grill, this house was ordered through Sears Roebuck, and was delivered in parts.. and built onsite by the owner (back in the early 1900's).  To get all the correct facts about the establishment known as The Magnolia Grill of Ft. Walton Beach, go HERE

This is one of my new favorite places to go for a nice calm atmosphere that serves good food, fair prices and great care by the server.

*beyond fabric - imagine, dream do!

While on my trip to Georgia, with the help of my dear motherinlove, I stumbled upon this treasure! Beyond Fabric!  This sweet little store is nestled in a little corner of Kingsland, Georgia (Lovetown USA).  The young lady who owns the store is as helpful and sweet as you would want one to be.  She carries interior design fabric, quilter cottons, craft items and more!

Oh, did I mention you will pay about half of what other stores charge you for interior decorator fabrics?! Yes, that is right!

I found this lovely fabric in her shop, which I instantly fell in love with!  I at first did not pick it up because I could not think of a use for it.  It would be a great fabric for hand bags or totes, but I remembered that I have wanted to recover our bar stools and dining room chairs for a while now, so I purchased some yardage with that in mind.

When I found these bar stools I really liked the color of the wood stain, they matched our dining room chair nicely. I however, did not really dig the bronze studs around the base of each seat. It just is not me. So, I have been thinking of this for a while.  I love the contrast of the pomegranate color of the walls against the bright white and yellow of the seat covers.  I did finish the fabric with Scotch Guard and even with that I know these stools will be dirty in no time. That is the downfall of having a lighter color on the stools.  For now I will enjoy the crisp clean look of each of them.

I had covered the dining room chairs some years ago with this toile, which I really love.  The covers are actually in great condition and do not need recovering at all other than I just want change. So... here we go. (and no, we still do not have our molding and quarter round down yet... sigh) I still have the other dining chairs to finish, the %$#@# stapler isn't working properly anymore so I have to wait for my hero to get home and fix it.

If you ever find yourself in Camden County, Georgia or nearby and you are looking for some great decorator fabrics at a rock bottom price, you have got to stop in and see the ladies at Beyond Fabric! You can also get more information about the store by visiting their website by clicking HERE.

*tucker dukes of Valpariso, Fl

The Tucker Duke Burger.  On the menu, it states that the Tucker Duke Burger comes as is, NO EXCEPTIONS, NO CHANGES will be made to the burger, so don't even ask.  Henry asked. Sigh.

The menu at Tucker Dukes is actually quite original. It is funny. (There were no stripper's sitting next to us at the bar, nor anywhere in the establishment) The wait staff were great, and the food was delish.  To our surprise, they have only been open for a month or two. Maybe that explains why we couldn't locate it using our Android Navigator.

We of course didn't order any sides, who could eat fries, etc with a burger this size.  We took our onion rings off and at them with the burger as a side. I ordered a different burger and it was piled high with spring mix salad which I love as well as a few pieces of bacon thrown on for good measure, sorry non-meat eaters.  There was a special sauce made with sour cream and horse radish, ok.. it was yum.

Oh, and if you bring a photo of your dog framed (one time only) you get a free burger!  The story goes, that the restaurant is named after one of the owners dogs, Tucker Duke. There are framed photos of man's best friend all about the place. Soon, Frayja will be on public display for all to see at Tucker Dukes!
